Our Story
Michiana Special Friends Community is a group of people called to share life together. We enter into intentional community in order to celebrate and support people with disabilities, sharing both our vulnerabilities and our gifts with each other and with our neighbors. We live in this intentional manner in order to be heralds of hope to our neighbors and the world, showing the dignity of each person through our way of life. We do this trusting that God will bring to completion the good work we begin. Michiana Special Friends Community is formally in the exploration phase in its intention to become the first recognized L'Arche community in Michiana.
NBC's Today Show featured a visit to the L'Arche Community of Atlanta. In this video, see the residential model we aspire to here in South Bend/ Mishawaka.
